Hunter has chaired and served on numerous committees during her career, including as a member of the Triangle Research Libraries Network Advisory Council, chair of the Resource Advisory Committee of the NC Live statewide digital library, and chair of an American Library Association interest group for chief collection development officers at large research libraries.Īt UNC, Hunter chaired the University Committee on Copyright for several years. She also managed a multi-million-dollar collections budget during a time of transition to electronic publications and through several rounds of significant cuts. She co-chaired the Library’s strategic planning effort in 2012, expanded the Library’s assessment program, and created the Library’s first user experience department. She has also held librarian positions in government agencies, at the Birmingham (Alabama) Public Library, and at Piedmont Virginia Community College.Īt UNC, Hunter oversaw the development, implementation, and growth of the multi-site Research Hub and the creation of the new Digital Research Services department. Hunter came to UNC after twelve years at the University of Virginia Library, where she held increasingly responsible posts leading to her appointment as associate university librarian for public services and collections. She also was interim director of the Louis Round Wilson Special Collections Library and associate University librarian for special collections in 2016.
